Fatal Portrait is the debut album by Danish heavy metal band King Diamond. It was produced by Rune Hoyer and released on 14 March 1986 through Roadrunner Records. Guitarist Andy LaRocque joined the album recording sessions at the last minute, as the band's second guitarist at the time "wasn't working out" in the studio. As a result, it is the only King Diamond album which does not feature any writing credits from LaRocque. Fatal Portrait has sold over 100,000 copies in North America alone. The title of the album comes from The Picture of Dorian Gray by Oscar Wilde. Wilde describes the painting as "the fatal portrait" several times throughout the novel. -

It is the first album to feature guitarist Pete Blakk and bassist Hal Patino. "Them" is the first of two fictional concept albums about King and his mentally ill grandmother, the second of these being Conspiracy. King falls into a harrowing descent into madness via his grandmother and the voices in the House of Amon, known to the listener only as "Them". -

Finland’s D-beat Hardcore Punk band Kürøishi is finally dropping their monster second LP “Sound The Alarm”. While the sold-out first LP “Poverty. Ignorance. Greed. Slavery” stemmed from a traditional Scandinavian style of “Tragedy via Wolfbrigade”, “Sound the Alarm” LP leans a lot more on a tasteful Japanese hardcore influence. The Tragedy heaviness and bleak atmosphere is still prevalent, with crushing dirges and desperate melodic riffing, but here the songs are more guitar-focused, with blazing guitar leads and huge epic guitar solos pumping adrenaline to the extreme. Set that to high-charge tempos and throw in some big gang choruses with guest appearances from bands like Think Again/ Systematic Death, NoLA, No Excuse, Vivisektio and Rotten Sound, and you’ve got your winter soundtrack all sorted out. Recorded and mixed by Antti Lindholm at Boat Island Studio April – July 2019 and mastered by Jack Control at Enormous Door Mastering (Martyrdöd, Forward, Framtid etc.). “Sound The Alarm” comes with a sleeve drawn and painted by none other than the true japanese artist and legend Akihiko “Sugi” Sugimoto himself. -

The style Mercyful Fate employed on Don't Break the Oath resembled a mixture of heavy metal with progressive elements, lyrically preoccupied with Satan and the occult and distinguished by King Diamond's theatrical vocals.
