Following some cassette demos, a shared LP with Newcastle’s Generic and a Peel session, debut LP The Only Good Punk…Is A Dead One surfaced on Peaceville with twenty songs, all clocking in at under two minutes (around half being less than 60 seconds). Formed in Würzburg, Bavaria, in 1986, by friends an ex-Warhead members Axel Blaha (drums) and Charly Steinhauer (vocals/guitar), Paradox quickly developed into one of the most important bands of the second wave of Teutonic speed and thrash metal. The line-up was completed by second guitarist Markus Spyth and Roland Stahl on bass. Their first, untitled demo tape, recorded the same year and containing seven self-penned numbers, took the German metal scene by storm. Gleaming reviews in Metal Hammer and Rock Hard followed, and as a result Paradox were soon hailed as the German answer to Metallica. Heresy is the second album by German thrash / speed metal band Paradox, released in 1989. The album preaches a conceptual story about the Albigensian Crusade of the 13th century. It is Paradox's best selling album to date, and was the band's last studio album for 11 years, until Collision Course (2000).
