DEATH, the heavy metal institution founded, realized, and helmed by legendary guitarist Chuck Schuldiner, released the Individual Thought Patterns album (the follow-up to their watershed Human release) in 1993. Expectations were high following Human, but Schuldiner proved once again that he could rise to any occasion. Individual Thought Patterns further honed the forward-thinking and progressive direction birthed with Human, and included “The Philosopher”; arguably the best song to ever come from the world of extreme metal and to this date the most widely-recognized. -
Bad Brains is the self-titled debut studio album recorded by American hardcore punk/reggae band Bad Brains. Recorded in 1981 and released on (then) cassette-only label ROIR on February 5, 1982, many fans refer to it as “The Yellow Tape” because of its yellow packaging. Though Bad Brains had recorded the 16 song Black Dots album in 1979 and the 5-song Omega Sessions EP in 1980, the ROIR cassette was the band’s first release of anything longer than a single. This reissue marks the second release in the remaster campaign, re-launching the Bad Brains Records label imprint. In coordination with the band, Org Music has overseen the restoration and remastering of the iconic Bad Brains’ recordings. The audio was mastered by Dave Gardner at Infrasonic Mastering and pressed at Furnace Record Pressing. -
Βανδαλούπ was formed in Thessaloniki, Greece, in 1990. This tribute compilation is dedicated to Βανδαλούπ and Ζώα Προς Εξαφάνιση (originally started as Βανδαλούπ but in 2000 and after some changes in their line-up, they change their name). -
Μορμώ (Mormo) is not new to this game. All members used to play in the legendary Greek crust band Dyspnea from Tyrnavos and they still carry the flame of that scene where back in the day bands like them, Xamos, The Malloy's Kids, Legal Pain, Social Security and others made noise and disrupted the quite life of this small rural town of central Greece. "Δυστοπία" (Greek for Dystopia) is their second album. Τhey have started a unique take on crust that centers on a more dark, esoteric and elegant sound that has transcended the constant d-beat pounding, fast paces and seer aggression of the genre with longer song structures, slower tempos, more complex songwriting and lots of atmosphere while still winking at the sound and aesthetics of beloved crust bands of the past. It’s like combining “Darker Days Ahead” by Tragedy with “Crack the Skye” by Mastodon, some black metal influences, krautrock rhythmic segments and lots of pagan myths of Thessaly. Μορμώ (Mormo) is doing to crust, is what Joy Division did to punk. -

Nobody could have ever guessed the trajectory that hardcore would have taken back when this movement was first formed. And in the early 2000s, nobody would have guessed that a band like TERROR would still be one of the most influential bands in the subgenre, 24 years after their start. Their aggression, coupled with a love and appreciation for the scene that so many have come and gone from, or even forgotten altogether, has let them thrive- now unveiling their tenth full length record, STILL SUFFER, releasing April 24th on Flatspot Records. Originating from Los Angeles, California, during a time when hardcore needed a band to smash things back to center as the genre found itself falling off track, TERROR rushed in, immediately made their mark and never let go. Working with producer (and former guitarist) Todd Jones, the band created ten fast, aggressive, in-your-face tracks that embrace the themes that made TERROR so influential in the first place. Songs about self empowerment, survival and an unrelenting will to face challenges head on with the values and support found within these walls. STILL SUFFER was rounded out with engineering and some additional production by Taylor Young at The Pit Recording Studio, mixing by Jon Markson, and mastering by Brad Boatright at Audiosiege, with additional vocal engineering by Jay Zubricky at GCR Audio, and drum engineering at Studio 606 by Taylor Young and Oliver Roman. Guest vocals on the album come from Jay Peta of Mindforce on “Beauty in the Losses,” Brody King of God’s Hate and Dan Seely of King Nine on “Deconstruct It,” along with Hot Water Music’s Chuck Ragan providing an assertive delivery on “Fear The Panic,” a song which was also co-produced by New Found Glory’s Chad Gilbert. From the start, TERROR has never turned their back on the things that made this band so vital since its inception. With the release of STILL SUFFER, it’s clear that the band has no sign of letting up, continuing to succeed on their mission to deliver hardcore authentic to themselves and to show the world that this is much more than just music. This community and movement that nobody can truly put into words, is the exact place the energy comes from that fuels TERROR to continue to build and grow with STILL SUFFER. -

Thrash Zone is the fifth album by the American crossover thrash band D.R.I., released in 1989. It continues the thrash metal style of the previous album, 4 of a Kind. Thrash Zone was D.R.I.'s most successful album to date, and produced the song "Beneath the Wheel", which was made as a music video and received airplay on MTV. Those Once Loyal is the eighth and final album by the British death metal band Bolt Thrower. It was released in 2005. With Bolt Thrower deciding against releasing a follow-up to Those Once Loyal, it was Bolt Thrower’s final studio album before breaking up a year after drummer Martin Kearns’ death in September 2015. Like all of Bolt Thrower’s albums, Those Once Loyal deals with war, specifically World War I. Mercenary is the sixth album by the British death metal band Bolt Thrower. It was recorded at Chapel Studios, Lincoln, England, December 1997 to January 1998. The album was produced by Bolt Thrower and Ewan Davis. It was released on Metal Blade Records in 1998. The cover painting is titled "Contact – Wait Out", which is also the first track on the next album, "Honour – Valour – Pride". "Powder Burns" is a continuation of the song "Embers" from The IVth Crusade, and leads into "The Killchain" on Those Once Loyal. -

Following the differences that saw the original group implode on the road in 1989, Cryptic Slaughter’s guitarist Les Evans moved to Portland, Oregon, where he formed a new band with former Wehrmarkt and Sweaty Nipples drummer Brian Lehfeldt, plus bassist Bret Davis and vocalist Dave Hollingsworth, both formerly in local hardcore band Crud. Now metal was much more prominent and hardcore on the wane, but there are still signature tempo changes, here within longer, more complex song structures, prefacing the industrial and post-thrash crossover acts to follow. An enduring swansong for all lovers of these metalcore innovators. -
