Negative Stance were one of the most influential bands of the Greek hardcore punk scene between 1988 and 1993. This was release in 2001 but repress again in 2013. DOOM was a band which were pivotal in the rise of crust punk and originated from Birmingham. Doom continued with different guitarist, most notably with Dave Talbot who co-founded UK doom metal band SOLSTICE with SORE THROAT’s vocalist Rich Walker, but did not settle with four members for long playing numerous gigs as a three piece, as Pickering turned to vocal and guitar duties. This line up continued until a final split in August 1990. Following the group’s demise Pickering formed Police Bastard, whilst drummer Stick joined ENT then DIRT. This records still sound heavy, fuzzy, dirty and mean as hell!!! -

This reissue marks the fourth release in the remaster campaign, re-launching the Bad Brains Records label imprint. In coordination with the band, Org Music has overseen the restoration and remastering of the iconic Bad Brains’ recordings. Catharsis broke up in 2002, following relentless touring on three continents and a final catastrophic five months in Europe. After a decade of watching the old records sell for absurd prices while bootleggers profited off substandard editions, we’ve finally taken it upon ourselves to offer a proper collection of their work. “Light from a Dead Star I.,” includes their debut 7”, and “Samsara” LP, packaged in a gatefold cover with oversize booklet offering all the original artwork. -

Near Death Experience is the fourth album by New York hardcore legends Cro-Mags, originally released in 1993. It is, to date, the last album to feature vocalist John Joseph. The songs on the album deal with topics such as environmentalism, anti-abortion, and spirituality. After its release, the Cro-Mags had gone on hiatus for some time, experienced more lineup changes, and would not release their next album, Revenge, until seven years later! -
New Jersey thrash metal band Overkill were formed in 1984 and named themselves after a Motörhead album. They were one of the early trash metal bands to sign to a major label and started to become successful in the late '80s, when the genre became popular with bands like Anthrax, Exodus, Metallica, Megadeth, Slayer and Testament. Taking Over is the second studio album by the band and was originally released in 1987. It was their first album to be released through Atlantic, who would release all of the band's albums up to W.F.O. (released in 1994). The track "Wrecking Crew" is considered one of the band's signature songs and was chosen to be the title of the band's official website (wreckingcrew.com). Both "Wrecking Crew" and "In Union We Stand" are almost always included on the band's setlist. -

Following the differences that saw the original group implode on the road in 1989, Cryptic Slaughter’s guitarist Les Evans moved to Portland, Oregon, where he formed a new band with former Wehrmarkt and Sweaty Nipples drummer Brian Lehfeldt, plus bassist Bret Davis and vocalist Dave Hollingsworth, both formerly in local hardcore band Crud. Now metal was much more prominent and hardcore on the wane, but there are still signature tempo changes, here within longer, more complex song structures, prefacing the industrial and post-thrash crossover acts to follow. Formed in Essen, Germany in 1982, Kreator are arguably the most influential and successful European thrash metal band ever, like many of their European speed metal brethren, Kreator fused Metallica's thrash innovations with Venom's proto-black metal imagery. Kreator has been referred to as one of the "Big 4" of Teutonic thrash metal, and they are often credited with helping pioneer death metal and black metal by containing several elements of what was to become those genres. The band has achieved worldwide sales of over two million units for combined sales of all their albums, making them one of the best-selling German thrash metal bands of all time. Kreator's style has changed several times over the years, from a Venom-inspired speed metal sound, later moving in to thrash metal, and including a period of transitioning from thrash to industrial metal and gothic metal throughout the 1990s. In the early 2000s, Kreator returned to their classic thrash sound, which has continued to the present. Pleasure to Kill, the second studio album by Kreator, was released in November 1986 originally by Noise Records. The lyrical themes follow those found on their first album. Unleashed in 1986 and still considered the band's first "classic" album, Pleasure to Kill raised the bar with more diversity of tempos and greater attention to technical execution, while losing nothing in terms of ferocity or speed. The band closed out the year with the Flag of Hate EP (named after a re-recorded version of their earliest hit) which is included on this version. Many death metal bands cite this album as an influence. Pleasure to Kill is widely considered a thrash classic. It is also considered a landmark album in the history of thrash metal along with Master of Puppets by Metallica, Reign in blood by Slayer and Darkness Descends by Dark Angel, all released in 1986. -

Music critic Alex Henderson of All Music gave it 4.5 out of 5 stars, praising the record for its “thrash circles” and for being “a relentlessly heavy and promising effort focusing on such subjects as the occult, witchcraft, nuclear war, and global destruction”. It made many year-end lists including those of renowned metal publishers Metal Injection. Loudwire lists the album among the ten best thrash records that weren't released by The Big 4. The album spawned one single release, lead-off track “Over The Wall”, which the band still plays live during nearly every show they play and remains one of the most popular songs among fans. -

Metal Church is the self-titled debut album of the heavy metal band of the same name. The album was originally released independently in 1984. Based on the success of the album, the band was signed to a recording contract by Elektra, who reissued Metal Church in 1985. The cover art depicts a cruciform Gibson Explorer hidden in shadows and smoke. Some of their most notable songs are the opener "Beyond The Black", their title track, the instrumental "Merciless Onslaught", "Gods Of Wrath" (which is different from all the other songs, as it had clean vocals, clean rhythms, and fluent solos) and the Deep Purple cover "Highway Star". The album is produced by Metal Church and Terry Date (Pantera, Slayer, Prong). -

Formed in 1985, Sacred Reich were an integral part of the 80s and 90s thrash movement, dropping four albums before splitting in 2000. Ignorance is the debut studio album by American thrash metal mavericks, Sacred Reich. It was originally released on October 13, 1987 by Metal Blade Records. The album was co-produced by the band and Bill Metoyer, who had previously engineered most of Slayer's early work, and has gone on to produce numerous metal classics! On Sacred Reich's 1987 debut "Ignorance", they speak out on war, racism, political oppression, and other evils. "Death Squad" questions the wisdom of the U.S. government's supporting right-wing dictatorships in the name of anti-communism, while "Sacred Reich" examines Adolf Hitler's reign of terror. Invigorating as well as disturbing, this bombastic album indicated that Reich could amount to something special if given a chance to develop. And it turned out that, in fact, the best was yet to come. 2021 pressing includes all original mixes and art. -
Show No Mercy is the debut studio crusher by American thrash metal masters Slayer, originally released on December 3, 1983, by Metal Blade Records. Almost five months before Metallica released Kill 'Em All, Metal Blade owner Brian Slagel saw Slayer open a show for Bitch at the Woodstock Theater in LA. Blown away, he asked the band if it would submit a track to his upcoming compilation album Metal Massacre III. They agreed and when he heard the song they turned in, "Aggressive Perfector," Slagel offered Slayer a record contract. On Dec. 3, 1983, the band released its scorching debut, Show No Mercy. -
